This piece, titled, El Roi, draws inspiration from the story of the Samaritan woman in John 4. Jesus meets with the woman at the well, where she catches a glimpse of the Messiah. She abandons her water jug and runs towards the town she was so desperate to hide from, eager to share that she had met Jesus, a man who knew her completely. I incorporated “El Roi” into the painting, a name given to God in Genesis that signifies “the God who sees me…” Originally created as an oil painting, this work has been transformed into an A6 photo.
